How do I fix my cake?!?

I was trying to bake a ginger & lime cake - I've made it successfully on two previous occasions. It requires making a cake with ginger, flour, etc. then drizzling a lime syrup over it. This time, I forgot to buy caster sugar and used normal white sugar instead in the syrup... It requires making a cake with ginger, flour, etc. then drizzling a lime syrup over it. This time, I forgot to buy caster sugar and used normal white sugar instead in the syrup... Now the cake is mushy and looks like it's going to fall apart. Should I put it in the fridge or in the oven to try and salvage it? I don't know whether it'll dry up/evaporate the moisture or just melt in the oven???
