when substituting curry with chilli powder do i use less?

    Honestly, this is not a good substitution. Curry powder is typically a blend of turmeric, cumin, coriander, black pepper, asafoetida, fennel seed, fenugreek, and cayenne.

    Additionally, some brands/blends may include caraway, cinnamon, clove, mustard seed, green cardamom, black cardamom, nutmeg, ginger and garlic.

    Cayenne is not appropriate as a substitute for curry powder. I could give you a recipe for a basic simple curry powder but you'd have to go out and buy all the spices separately; also, curry powder is different depending on whether you're talking about Japan, Korea, Thailand, India, UK, USA, Malaysia, etc etc etc. So I wouldn't be sure which blend you want since you didn't mention that in your post.
