First of all you have to have a very, very strong desire to learn French. Then, you have to be willing to do whatever is necessary to reach your goal. 33 years ago I developed a few tricks to learn English. Today I am a Professional Translator.
Here are my tips: Go to your nearest community college. You could also explore high schools in your area. FIND SOMEONE WHO NEEDS TO LEARN ENGLISH WHOSE NATIVE TONGUE IS FRENCH. Then, volunteer to teach him (her) English. Make sure your lecturing is done using FRENCH. If you do it consistently, perhaps daily 1 hour, I would like to hear from you within 6 months. When I did it, I reached fluency in a month. Not everyone learns at the same speed but I am convinced you will make big progress. Good luck !!
