When you connect iPod to a new iTunes or a new computer, you need to authorize your iPod to it, then you can follow this guide that helped me before to transfer files from iPod to computer

ITunes does do that, actually. Just in a different way.

Do not connect your iPod! Not yet.

You can open the iTuns store, go to purchases, it will show all the music, apps etc you bought on your Apple ID. Click on the cloud that says download all.

This will put all your iTunes on the new computer.

It may as for your Apple ID more than once for security.

When you are done with download, you may connect to laptop. It will show a warning about erasing your iPod which was synced with another library. This is a normal warning to protect your device from being erased by accident.

    Source(s): Done it.

Itunes SHOULD do that... but it doesn't. You'll have to download third party software to do that.
