What other oil painting techniques I can try out?

For a stable painting you want to layer fat over lean so that means your paints that you thin down with turpentine or mineral spirits goes on first and then the less thinned paint goes over top. The best thing for you to do is experiment, try different mediums like liqun, dorlans wax medium, and others (I posted some links below). You can also use acrylic paints and mediums underneath your oil paintings, I know an artist that used house paint as her under painting and layered oil paints over top. The best thing to do is experiment and google different techniques try. The more you try new things the more you will find something that fits your style.Source(s): http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4... http://www.dickblick.com/categories/oilmediums/ http://www.dickblick.com/categories/mediums/
