Simple pre-amplifier designs (electronics)?
Does anyone have any designs (or ideas) for a simple but yet effective pre-amplifier for earphones that aren't very loud to make them louder?

A simple design might be the MAX9820 stereo headphone integrated circuit available from mouser electronics for $1.15 ea. Unfortunately, it is a surface mount part which would be hard to solder without a special circuit board design- and that circuit board part costs $64.00, an outrageous cost.
So, to get a more user friendly design, you could build a LM386 amplifier, requiring one LM386 per channel. So that is more parts, but is easy to obtain the LM386s, circuit board, capacitors, etc. at Radio Shack.Source(s): http://www.electroniq.net/audio/max9820-stereo-hea... http://www.google.com/imgres?q=lm386+headphone+amp... http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?produc...
