The top 20% of this country pay 94% of the income taxes. Is that still not enough?

Update:

No, we should cut government spending.

Update 2:

The Gap is increasing because of the 3% annual inflation. Who does inflation hurt the most? People with loads of money or the poor?

If the left had their way, and the rich "paid their fair share," the government would spend it 50 fold at least. No, it's not a revenue problem.

A lot on your reading comprehension. The information are, that revenue fell for most folks at the same time it persisted to broaden for the top. So yes, it is correct that they pay the majority of the tax burden because they are the only ones taking cash out of this financial system. Further, 2008 and 2009 have been stimulus bundle years. Taxes were lowered for those two years in hopes of helping the economic system that Bush ruined. Obviously that is over your head, in any other case you might understand that Portman is partisan and no longer a reputable source for monetary or tax policy.

Nothing changes for the top 20%.. we're talking the top 1%.

And when we have a system where someone barely getting by pays a higher rate than billionaires; then yes, there's a problem

    Nope.

The top 20% aren't paying the SAME PERCENTAGE that I am. When they do, then that will be enough. None of this 10% to 15% bullcrap. They need to pay out the same 25% - 35% that everyone else does... Or they need to get out of this country.

Because the bottom 90% of Americans own only around 20% of the wealth.

The rich need to pay their fair share of taxes!

the economy was great under Clinton. Bush messed it all up. Lets go back to Clinton-era tax rates. You can't just automatically reject the idea. Economy was great under Clinton.

Plus, people who makes tons of money usually rely heavily on the the 'commons'-- roads, for ex,--so they should pay more to help maintain the commons.

    Not according the Liberals.

They won't be happy until ALL a persons income is taxed and no one has an incentive to work hard or achieve anything.

The top 20% own 94% of the wealth also. Why can't people wish their success on others? If not that well at least not let them starve while the food rots in the stores...

Don't ask them anything rational. I bet they will say they own all the wealth. If even that makes sense. Their thinking is based on the world having only a finite wealth. That on its face is untrue so why go into the other million reasons. They just want free stuff. They are the welfare party. No more no less

Do you think society can continue with the gap between rich and poor increasing so rapidly?
