Is there a reason The University of Arkansas won't Play Arkansas State?

I recently started attending Arkansas State and I have always wanted to see a match up between the two schools in football. Friends and classmates alike have always told me that it won't happen, is this because of some ruling or is it just because U of A doesn't want to play ASU.

Because it's not an FCS school. If Arkansas State were a Division II school, they would be on the schedule, since SEC schools love to schedule them.

It's a no-win for Arkansas. If they beat them, then everybody says no big deal they were supposed to anyway. If they lose, though, it's a black eye for the Razorbacks. Anytime you have an in-state rivalry, the game is unpredictable. Even with Arkansas State being in the Sun Belt, there is the potential for Arkansas to lose that game. There is no sense in scheduling potentially difficult games when you don't have to do so. People can rail on the SEC for their OOC schedule, but the fact is; nobody beefs up their OOC too much. Everybody plays scrubs. If the big boys did not play scrubs, then who would the scrubs play? If BCS schools only played each other, then people would complain about the "little guy" getting hosed. So, they schedule them and people complain about soft OOC schedules. You can't have it both ways.

They're not on their schedule. That's why. Arkansas would beat Arkansas State by at least 30 points.

UA wants to keep ASU totally irrelevant within the state and playing them could give ASU some credibility, especially if ASU won. That's a risk that UA doesn't want to take.

It's really a hypocritical stance by UA since they play other Sun Belt Conference schools but the Pigs are the big hog in the state and are allowed to do almost anything they want to do.

BamBam, and Lonesome Rhodes are right. Arkansas has a policy of not playing any in state team, unless forced to in some type of tourny. It started back with Frank Broyles.

Troy will thrash each and each individual and something of their way. BCS call sport: Troy vs. Rice Sugar Bowl: Vandy vs. Baylor Rose Bowl: Northwestern vs. Washington State Fiesta Bowl: Iowa State vs. Villanova, who isn't even interior the FBS Orange Bowl: Virginia vs. Michigan
