A lot of ethic food/dishes have been commercialized for the benefit of the modern consumer. This food is prepared at low cost in large plants were the food is quickly processed and frozen and ready for shipment in a very short time. It does not sound so exciting for ethic foods to prepared this way, but it might be the only way most people might be able to try the different foods as many old-world dishes were and are so involved the average housewife would have the time and knowledge to make them in her kitchen.
The ethic food that is prepared at home is loving cooked and prepared sometimes for hours at a time. Many pasta and pizza dishes prepared at home, are painstakingly rolled and shaped piece by piece by hand involving several hours of preparation and cooking. Many ethic cuisines like Mexican, Italian, French, German, take hours to prepare. Many wonderful and delicious old-world recipes were so involved they would be prepared just on special events and occasions, but thanks to modern conveniences we can get to enjoy them every day of the week, if we so choose. Without the convenience of commercialization of certain ethic foods many of these wonderful recipes would be lost to us today - Perogies, Cabbage Rolls, Ravioli, Cannelloni, Meat Pies, Sausage etc etc, would be
a thing of the past.
