I have to get my blood tested every six months. This includes a fasting blood glucose measurement. So for several times, I tested with my own glucometer at the same time. I was never more than 3 points off! And that's the American system, which is bigger numbers (I don't know which you use).

Even if it was a few points off, if you use the same glucometer it shows trends up and down, and that's more important anyway.

Capillary blood is used for testing in glucose meter. In the laboratories, venous blood is used for testing. The glucose test reading in digital blood glucose monitors may be slightly high (10 to 15 mg/dL).

digital monitors are not always reliable. they show +/_10 points when compared to traditional way of testing blood glucose levels in a lab. Not only these blood glucose monitors, even other digital meters like BP monitors and weighing machines are also not accurate compared to their analog counterparts.
