Benzodiazepine medication will leave you feeling almost hung over the first time you take it, lorazepam(ativan) is a pretty hardcore benzo and thats coming from an ex addict who got hooked on prescription benzos-be careful! Also they slow your breathing down. Ativan is fast acting and doesnt stay active as long as Valium, and its more of a sedative than an anti anxiety thing, maybe Diazepam might be better? Maybe no benzos might be better, If you need sertraline(zoloft) too you better take them as they are probably better for depression and the like long term but they take a while to kick in, you need to take them regularly for a few weeks first but long term, ativan is not good, it will make you feel worse later (rebound anxiety they call it) do some research to see whats best for you! But maybe the lorazepam(instant acting, short term) is to get you over the worst until the sertraline (takes a fewweeks to build up but its for the long term) kicks in. Good luck, get well soon.
I'm a mental health patient myself, as are friends and family, and I've been on these medications as have friends and family (my mum still is on sertraline)
