To become a citizen of Ecuador you first have to be a resident. So you need to go to the nearest Consulate and apply for a six month visa. Within those first six months in Ecuador you have to apply for a permanent resident visa that you qualify for.
You can get a resident visa based on a pension, investing a certain amount of money into the country and a few other ways.
After being a resident for a minimum of 3 years you can apply for dual citizenship. You don't lose you Canadian citizenship.

You have to go to the embassy to get your residences there. If you move to a foreign country you have to learn the language and know how to orientate yourself in the new place. especially if you are living there by yourself, all alone, get a map and go around when you will be moving to.
