what are the key strokes to a system restore for a mac?

when I reboot my Mac what commands do I press to have a system restore

    If you have Lion or Mountain Lion, hold Command and F then power up the system, while holding those keys down. Your Mac should enter system restore. If you have Snow Leopard or lower, you will need the install disk. Insert the disk, power down, then hold the Option key while you power up again. Select the boot from disk option, and you will have options to perform a system recovery.
