What is developmentally suitable for a 10-year old: coloring book or competitive board game?

This is a question of debate on a nursing test and I would like your input.

There are some great board games around, but you need someone else to play with.

Most coloring books are probably a bit too simple for a 10 year old, but you can find some really cool products that are much more challenging.

There's also a really good online site, called ColoringPages4U.com, that has lots of coloring pages, some of which are pretty detailed. And you can paint freeform to add more details, shading etc. You can even start with a blank page and use it to create your own pictures.

It even has regular coloring contests, with a chance to win Amazon vouchers. So definitely worth a look!

competitive board game because it's challenging and mentally stimulating. Coloring book for all ages because it's soothing but would be more challenging and mentally stimulating for a younger child.

    competitive board game

Your kid should be pretty good at checkers, and know how to play chess too.
