1)Noun (name of objects and stuff): Apple, Banana, Alps, Nile, Tom,etc..
2)Pronoun (word used instead of a noun, when repeated) : He, She, We, You, They, Them, Us, Your's, Mine, Theirs, Him, Her, His, Her's.
Example: Tom likes carrots. He eats them everyday.
3)Verbs (Action words or doing words) : Eat, Jump, Run, Go, Laugh, Learn, Think, Look, etc.
Also: Is, Was, Be, Will, Were, Did, Do, Done, Does (auxillary verbs)
4)Adjectives (describes a noun, used before a noun): Good, Bad, Neat, Beautiful, Ugly, Greedy, Angry, Arrogant, Little, Three, Four,etc.
Example: Tom is a good boy.
It is a bright day.
(where, boy and day are the nouns described by the adjectives, good and bright )
5)Adverbs (describes an action or verb) : Fast, Slowly, Greatly, Quickly, Beautifully, Angrily, etc.
Example: He jumped quickly.
She drew the picture beautifully.
(how the jumping and drawing was done is described by the adverbs, quickly and beautifully)
6)Preposition (describes the relationship between two words within a sentence) : On, In, Out, In front of, In between, Behind, For, With, From, Within, etc.
Example: She jumped into the cart. ('into' is the preposition)
She stood in between two trees. ('in between' is the proposition)
7)Conjunctions (joins two sentences): And, But, Because, Whereas, As, For, etc.
Examples; She loves to eat ice cream and pudding (combination of 'She loves to eat ice cream' and 'She loves to eat pudding')
8)Interjections (Words used with exclamation mark) : Wow!, Ouch!, Ah!, Alas!, Bravo!, Hurray!
