What is the significance of Peter Fonda's character throwing his watch on the ground in Easy Rider?
His character does this right before they take off on their adventure. I've got my theories behind this scene but I would like to hear others opinions..

When you don't give a damn where you're going what does time matter. It's also a nice way of saying to hell with the established order. everyone else is punching a clock on a schedule for "The Man". Fonda was saying screw time, and I am The Man!

He's disengaging from the world of schedules, appointments and other time-related aspects of life.
Or, as Ashley Roach-clip once said "I'm not into time, man!"
