How to change YouTube username to real name?

A lot of people have been asking how to hide their real name, but I want to do the opposite. I've seen old Youtube accounts change their nickname to their real name on YouTube with spaces like, from xkjcvngamer to Bob Smith or something. I recently made a Google+ account to try to do that but I don't know what to do next. Am I doing something wrong? I'm not making a new YouTube account.
