Why is poverty growing when the federal govt spends $20,000 per poor person a year?
The federal government actually runs 126 separate anti-poverty programs. They're managed by 13 different agencies.
The federal government runs 33 different housing programs: 21 programs to provide food, eight healthcare programs, 27 cash or general assistance programs. It's hard to find a government department that doesn't run an anti-poverty program. All this adds up -- and this is just the federal government.
All this welfare spending adds up to $20,610 for every poor man, woman and child in the country.
For a poor family of three, that's nearly $62,000 dollars. The poverty line for that family is just $18,500. With this kind of spending, poverty should be wiped out - instead it's growing.

It's all a part of the plan, my friend. A plan for "fundamental change you can step in"!
David Horowitz explains the Cloward-Piven strategy as the following: The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
Implementation of this strategy follows three common features:
•The offensive organizes previously unorganized groups eligible for government benefits but not currently receiving all they can.
•The offensive seeks to identify new beneficiaries and/or create new benefits.
•The overarching aim is always to impose new stresses on target systems, with the ultimate goal of forcing their collapse.
Putting unsustainable numbers of people in this country on Social Security disability is simply a part of this strategy … and you’re seeing it happen right now and right before your unbelieving eyes. There is only so much that a free society can take before it is incapable of supporting entitlement recipients and the moochers (those who didn’t pay into the system at all, and yet collect government checks).
According to some of the people who knew him then …when Barack Obama arrived from Hawaii to Occidental College back around 1980 or so, he came here as a dedicated Marxist revolutionary. His Marxist friends at Occidental convinced him that if America were to become a Marxist society it would have to happen not through revolution, but politically. Fast forward to Obama’s pronouncement that he was going to “fundamentally change the United States of America.”
Look at the growth of our entitlement society! Just consider these bullet points!
•The growth of people on Social Security unemployment.
•Relaxation of work rules and expansion of welfare programs.
•Doubling of foodstamp recipients.

Because the Trickle Down Economic Model - in place for 40 years now - has eroded the Middle Class - year after year.
Anyway - why are you Righties so against Government Welfare?
Isn't that like slitting your own throat?
After all - from the 2010 Census ...
" Among the 100 Counties in the USA with the HIGHEST DEPENDENCE on Federal Welfare, TWO THIRDS voted for John McCain and Quitter Palin. ''
But I guess - FOX didn't let you in on that Fact, did they?
LOL .... Righties - not only are they the Enemy of Freedom - they're their OWN worst enemy!!!!

Most households that receive assistance also have working residents.
So one reason poverty continues to rise is because wage earnings continue to decline.
The deficit between what is spent to prevent poverty, compared to what is lost from wages vs purchasing power as a ratio is what pushes the real expenditures figures down, and your numbers represent nominal expenses not real increases to household earnings in purchasing power terms.

Because the money which would have gone into the economy, creating jobs and innovations, gets sucked up by the lobbyists and Bureaucrats in DC.
