After dentist tested tooth with a really cold chemical, tooth is sensitive?

a couple of days ago, I went to the dentist for molar pain when chewing. It turned out it was a bite issue, but prior to fixing that, he did a couple of tests, one of them involving a qtip type thing that he sprayed with a really cold substance. It turned out it was a bite issue, but prior to fixing that, he did a couple of tests, one of them involving a qtip type thing that he sprayed with a really cold substance. He tested that on two of my back teeth to make sure they weren't "dead", and that I still felt the coldness. Now a couple days later, one of the teeth he checked is sensitive to hot/cold foods and drinks.

Is this normal? When should it get back to normal?
