Genetics? From wearing thongs/flip-flops? From not walking properly? From having a straight posture? No idea, to be honest - I have the same problem. My mum says that I will grow out of it, all my sisters have and they are in their twenties. Some days my knees actually hurt from it, but all mum says is that I'll grow out of it.
If you really can't stand it, you can get braces on your knees/legs or physiotherapy every so often.
*Edit : That I know of, there's no health risks or anything, although with my knees they are in inconceivable pain when I jog or walk for too long (over an hour and a half).
