English Lit degree for journalism/media?

Is getting an english lit degree from University of Glasgow beneficial for a career in journalism/media, world politics media? (im starting there this year) And after that how long is a degree in journalism? ;-) xxx

    The person bellow is completely incorrect.

    An English lit degree is generally more respected than an a media or journalism degree. A journalist came into my sixth form and informed us that employers to not like journalism as a degree as it is too specific and narrow.

    Also, many famous journalists do not even have an English degree, they may have one in History for example.

    No. You need a journalism/communications degree.

    English Lit is if you want to teach it in high school.
