Are term limits the answer or part of the answer?

If indeed term limits are the answer or part of the answer to our government being bought and paid for by a select few, then how are we going to get legislation passed that directly effects those who will be voting on the action? I personally believe that term limits is a good thing but cannot solve the entire problem. There also has to be restraints or limitations on lobbying and lobbyist’s ability to buy and divert or legislators focus and loyalty to their constituents. In addition, the Supreme Court in its infinite wisdom has allowed those who would subvert the process of democracy to remain anonymous and allows them to contribute vast amounts of money to reelection campaigns for the purpose of obtaining favorable legislation for their purposes which may or may not be in line with what the majority wants or needs. Yes, our legislators have been bought and paid for. Our Democracy has been sold to the highest bidder and our representatives have prostituted themselves in direct contradiction to their oath of office. The American people have been lied to and deceived by the very people they have put their trust in to legislate on their behalf and best interest. Shame on them for selling out to the highest bidder. Shame on us for allowing it to happen.

    I would love to see:

    - term limits at all levels of elected government

    - a complete ban on lobbyists

    - make it illegal for an elected official to accept donations, hard or soft cash, from any business or corporation (this actually use to be the law up until the late 1940s)

    - public funded election campaigns with no outside cash allowed

Not only do you have to do term limits but we must find a way to take the exorbitant cash out of the political system

Only a minor part of the answer.

If we the people would pay attention to what is going on, then we would be voting our representatives out more often.

The problem I'm seeing is that even if we vote one out-the replacement is a schill too.

People need to start paying attention to how these people vote and write to them to let them know how they want them to vote, if they do not listen-get the heck rid of them.

Let the eleccted officials know that we are watching and will get rid of them if they do not listen to us.

A mandatory retirement age of 65 for ALL Federal employees is my answer to getting rid of political lifers

Mandatory retirement at 65 is done by the military , the public sector and the private sector ...so why not extend it to our elected officials and their appointees ?

Yes . We need a Constitution Amendment such as the Get The Money Out that gets corporate cash OUT of politics . Any politician who opposes it should be VOTED OUT .

Absolutely yes. It is WAY past time. Getting the entrenched old criminals in congress to fire themselves will be the hard part.
