Why do restaurants paint the ceilings black?

Just curious, I've looked around and I've noticed a lot of restaurants have black ceilings. Why? Personally I like it because I don't want to see their dirty ceilings.

It is a psychological "atmosphere" thing. People do NOT like an all white hospital looking environment, better to be dimly lit to be "cozier". You'll also notice a LOT of "earth tones" in the colors used. Orange and yellow will be prevalent because those are "warm" colors as opposed to blues and greens which are "cool" colors.

It gives you the feeling of intimacy. And probably makes you eat more, lol.
