can my pc support USB 3.0?

hi i have a HP Compaq CQ60 laptop with windows 7 ultimate ,160gb hdd , 4GB ram the laptop has 3 usb ports one on the left and 2 on the right is there a way to take the usb 2.0 on the left and solder a new usb 3.0 hub thing to the motherboard will that work or will something go wrong .

ps hp Compaq CQ60 it has no usb 3.0 ports on it i need something to support a hard drive


thanks steven so can i go on ebay and get a pci-e usb 3.0 card and unsolder one of the usbs and replace it will it still work the same or do i need to get a resistor of som kind

    Any time you want to solder something to the motherboard, something "can" go wrong. I doubt you'll be able to find a good guide for doing it. Although, USB 3 components should still work on USB 2 ports, they'll just be slower (any might require external power).
