There are no Federal laws requiring helmet use. That is left up to the states and local municipalities so you need to check your states laws and the local laws. Your local municipality may require everyone to wear a helmet.

Actually the law in calfornia is under 18, not 15 and it doesn't matter if youre on the street or sidewalk, basically anywhere public you're required to have a helmet if you're under the age limit. You can ride around on your property without a helmet (or naked if you wanted).

But most states have a law similar to that, ususally either at 16 or 18.

Most cops have better things to do than ticket a kid for not wearing a helmet, unless you live in a rich area where the cops are bored. So thats why some people think theres no law or that its only for the street not the sidewalk (how stupid do you have to be to think that? Like you don't touch the street at all if youre on the sidewalk? C'mon moron)

The California law states that Anybody over the age of 15 is not required to wear a helmet.

Anybody under the age of 15 is required to wear a helmet and be accompanied by an adult.
