    [ ( y^2 - 64 ) / y ] / [ ( y + 8 ) / ( y + 6 ) ]

    = [ ( y^2 - 64 ) / y ] * [ ( y + 6 ) / ( y + 8 ) ]

    = [ ( y - 8 ) ( y + 8 ) / y ] * [ ( y + 6 ) / ( y +8 ) ]

    = ( y - 8 ) ( y + 6 ) / y

    = (y^2 - 2y - 48) / y

    = ( y^2 -8y + 6y - 48) / y

    = ( y +6 ) (y - 8) /y

    [(y^2-64)/y] / [(y+8)/(y+6)]

    = [(y^2-64)/y] * [(y+6)/(y+8)]

    = [(y-8)(y+8)/y] * [(y+6)/(y+8)]

    = (y-8)(y+6)/y

    = (y^2 - 2y - 48)/y

    = y - 2 - 48/y
