3/4 = 6/8 (double both numbers) and it should go without saying that 6/8 is smaller than 7/8

3/4 is equivalent to 6/8

So 7/8 is greater than 3/4

Its really not that hard

3/4 is 75% out of 100% -- simply divide 100 by 4 and that gives you 25, which is also called a quarter. so since you have 3 quarters, that is 3x25=75

7/8 is about 88% out of 100% --same scenario as above. 8 divided by 100 is 12.5 and you mulitiply 7x12.5=87.5 (rounded to 88)

Therefore, 7/8 is greater than 3/4.

Well, 3/4 is 6/8 reduced... Think of a pie, and 3/4ths of a pie. You have it cut into 4 equal parts, and 1 is missing. But when you cut a pie into 8 parts, and only 1 is missing. That one missing part is smaller than the other missing part. This the 7/8th of a pie is bigger than the 3/4ths of a pie.
