If Conservatives are so intent on self-reliance and avoiding government assistance, then why is it that those?
counties in New York State which most consistently vote Republican also happen to be the ones with the highest rates of unemployment, the greatest number of people receiving food stamps and liheap payments, the highest percentage of their population living on long term disability and the highest high-school drop out rates?
Also, these two counties are both more than 90% white.

I agree. Notice that republicans destroy unions and ship jobs overseas. Doing that causes the need for social services
So what's their solution? Why ship more jobs overseas and bust more unions of course. Of which puts America on a downward spiral to the bottom.

Perhaps they vote Republican because they want someone who will work to get industry back into their counties? In the bottom feeder havens like New York City, they simply make a career out of food stamps and welfare, voting for the politician who promises to keep providing it. We call that societal parasitism, a very dominant trait of your average Democrat.

Its called population density. Your per capita density in New York City is far higher than in the northern counties. Most industries in Syracuse, Albany, and the I-90 corridor are gone. There is not much burger flipping business or drug dealing in those areas as there is in NYC.

Detroit is the most liberal city in America. Fact. Look up voting records. Also, by FAR the most willing to accept handouts. Go figure. Also, it's a fact that liberals receive more food stamps and general welfare than conservatives, while simultaneously giving less to charity. Facts are hard for libs to grasp, I'm aware, but please try.

Queens: "About 16.9% of families and 24.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.8% of those under age 18 and 13.0% of those age 65 or over."
Chemung:"About 9.10% of families and 13.00% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.40% of those under age 18 and 6.80% of those age 65 or over."
Steuben:"About 9.90% of families and 13.20% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.70% of those under age 18 and 5.80% of those age 65 or over."
Seriously this took about 3 full minutes to look up. Try harder next time

If Republicans didn't like government assistance, then Exxon Mobil wouldn't be getting millions of dollars of taxpayer-funded subsidies every year.
They LOVE welfare - they just prefer it to be directed to corporations and the wealthy.

Wow. You dig deep to find two anomalies and then make a massive generalization. Good reasoning.

Because conservative and liberal parties both have people who are poor.
