Shoot it digital, in high deff at 24 fps so it looks more like film but without the extra cost of shooting on film.

Use an external mike (eg. A boom mike) for sound recording and ADR.

But don't go out buying the latest, most expensive equipment. Having better equipment does not mean that you're a good director or it'll be a good film. You could spend thousands on cameras, lights, sound, hire and edititng but if the director doesn't have the talent or vision - it'd still turn out crap

Really massive expensive recording equipment, skill in filming and moviemaking, and those fuzzy things they hang over actors and actresses to absorb the sound to stop echoing. Editing contribues largely also, adding the right effects to the lighting and sound.

Basically the cameras are what does it. Research video camera types that moviemakers use. Some youtubers (Julian Smith, for example, his username is julian87 I think) Has that movie theater like quality to his videos because of the cameras he uses.

Well, you'll have to rent a camera. Buying filmmaking cameras are way out of the average man's spending ability. You also need to hire several people to make everything in the movie work well (lighting, photography, sound etc).

Look up Panavision. They're the industry standard for cameras.

You need a 4x camera. Typical movie theaters use 2 2x projectors. Basically what this means is that the movie is 4x larger than the highest consumer resolution, 1080p.

depends on what you mean by quality. if you want it to look amazing and sound amazing, you will have to fork over hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash to buy or rent equipment and hire people to be on your crew.

however, if you want a quality storyline (which most hollywood movies dont have), then thats free! you just have to come up with a great idea and write a great script! thats a quality movie!

What quality is that? The quality that makes you wish you had saved yourself $12 and done your laundry instead?
