Crime rates in poor black areas vs poor white areas .......?

Why do so many poor black areas such as in Detroit, Chicago and NYC have such high violent crime rates whereas many equally poor or poorer poor white areas such as in Appalachia or the Ozarks have much lower violent crime rates ?

The 4 most dangerous cities in America per violent crimes are

1 St Louis

2 Detroit

4 Compton .....which are all poor black areas .....not poor white areas

    One word: Culture.

The black culture is corrupt, based upon self interest.

White culture still has remnants of Christian values, though those remnants are fast disappearing.

And Asians, another minority, have the lowest crime rate, highest education levels and economic success and best family values. I do believe it's cultural. Blacks who try to do well in school get chided and ostracized for "acting white".

In all I've read, crime is a function of class, not color. It's not really fair to compare crowded urban areas to sparsely-populated rural areas.

There are all kinds of arguments some people make to try to show blacks are somehow inherently more criminal. But I don't believe there's any real evidence to support this.

Black people are more often prosecuted than white people, for the same crime. Black people also serve more time for the same crime than do white people.

The National Institute of Drug Abuse estimated that while 12 percent of drug

users are black, they make up nearly 50 percent of all drug possession

arrests in the U.S. (The Black and White of Justice, Freedom Magazine, Volume 128)

According to the National Drug Strategy Network, although African Americans

make up less than one-third of the population in Georgia, the black arrest

rate for drugs is five times greater than the white arrest rate. In addition,

since 1990, African Americans have accounted for more than 75% of persons

incarcerated for drug offenses in Georgia and make up 97.7% of the people in

that state who are given life sentences for drug offenses.
