Masterbation? (LDS people)?

I have a friend that is LDS and lives up to all of her YW (young women) standards except that she masturbates.

She has masturbated ever sense she was very little and stopped for the past couple years, but she has been having temptations to masturbate again and has a couple of times.

She doesn't read bad stuff, watch/look at porn, and she does it privately. All she does is sit in bed and rubs herself.

Is it a sin in the LDS church to do this? Can she do it if it does become an addiction?

I’d prefer if LDS persons would answer and tell if you’re LDS in the source box. Also Please no "Talk to your bishop," or ext...

Yes it is a sin, whether a person is a member of THE Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints or not.

This is so because it is a commandment of Jesus Christ not to self stimulate masturbate. That is what a husband is there for.

If you are not married and you don't have a husband, then you need to wait until you are married for you to participate in that activity.

You should not go to the Temple or partake of the Sacrament until you are free from that particular pernicious activity.

You should confess to the Bishop about this activity, and resolve to discontinue doing what you have been doing. Keeping the commandment of Chastity is the most important commandment of Jesus Christ that there is.

Repentance is the way to gain a better connection to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said, if you love Me, keep My commandments.

Your highest priority in life is to see to it that you keep the law of chastity, completely, one hundred percent without any reservations whatsoever. The world will tell you just the opposite is true.

After marriage is after marriage. And before marriage is before marriage. Don't confuse the one with the other, and don't confuse yourself for being your own eternal companion.

"When you are sexually pure, you prepare yourself to make and keep sacred covenants in the temple. You prepare yourself to build a strong marriage and to bring children into the world as part of an eternal and loving family. You protect yourself from the spiritual and emotional damage"

    Youth Standards

"The early apostles and prophets mention numerous sins that were reprehensible to them. Many of them were sexual sins—adultery, being without natural affection, lustfulness, infidelity, incontinence, filthy communications, impurity, inordinate affection, fornication. They included all sexual relations outside marriage—petting, sex perversion, masturbation, and preoccupation with sex in one’s thoughts and talking. Included are every hidden and secret sin and all unholy and impure thoughts and practices" President Kimbal

Masturbation: To sexually stimulate oneself. “Masturbation … is not approved of the Lord nor of his Church, regardless of what may be said by others whose ‘norms’ are lower” (Spencer W. Kimball, President Kimball Speaks Out [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1981], p. 10).

The real question, is why is she telling anyone?

and why should anyone else be concerned with her business when it is doing no harm ?

Masturbation is normal healthy, and while rare, addiction is possible but for women unlikely.

"Bad stuff" for one person is not "bad stuff" for someone else.. its a matter of opinion...
