Pneumonia is either from a bacterial of viral infection. Normally bacterial infections clear up with treatment and you'll be fully recovered. On some occasions the bacteria you are infected with never really disappears but the active part of the infection does - you should still be asymptomatic.

Viral infections take longer to recover from but should also have got 'out of your system' in MONTHS. If you're having ongoing symptoms I suggest you seek further treatment.
