Have DEMOCRATS & LIBERALS have changed since the 1960's?

In the past (1960-70s) Democrats were for individualism and living without gov intrusion (keep " the man" off my back was their main idea. THE OLD SCHOOL DEMS WERE TOTALLY AGAINST GOV BOTHERING THEM OR BUTTING INTO THEIR LIVES. Amazingly, the hippies of the 1960s, who were so adamant in their “leave me alone” message of the time, now welcome “the man’s” intrusion into their lives. Bob Dylan’s song, Subterranean Homesick Blues, contains the following line: “Johnny’s in the basement mixing up the medicine; I’m on the pavement thinkin’ about the government.”

Now, instead of fearing the government, most liberals are beating the pavement actually CHEERING the government.

NOW the Republicans are trying to keep big gov intrusion -- and "the G-MAN" from taking over...

What do you think ---- have DEMOCRATS changed in 50 years?

Yes, as a matter of fact Democrats HAVE changed from the sixties when the party was dominated by "Dixiecrats" Souther segregationist who left the party and fled to the Republican party when the Democratic party began to support the Civil Rights bill. We always cheered the government because in a Democracy people are the government and the government is the people. Will still don't want government telling us who we can fall in love with, what church we should support, etc. Only paranoid, delusional, low IQ conservatives fear the did he Republican in the fifties...Remember the drunken Joseph McCarthy and his delusional rants against "communists in the government" when there were none? No. Little has changed except the segregationist and racist are now the base of the Republican party whereas they were the base of the Democratic party in the fifties and sixties.

George Wallace was once a democrat, the occasion of slavery, secession and segregation. So naturally Wallace would dislike MLK, a Republican, the social gathering of freedom, desegregation and equal rights for all. Wallace, a democrat, hated any one who failed to aid the democrat position of segregation. Democrats have never been "liberal." It was democrat President Woodrow "KKK" Wilson who resegregated the federal govt, after Republicans freed the slaves for the duration of Reconstruction. Wallace hated liberal recommendations like desegregation. He had to seeing that he was once a democrat. On the grounds that the Civil Rights generation, democrats have fled the south and moved to the Northeast and instituted racial segregation again. This time they've thrown black humans into huge metropolis ghettos, the new plantation for the segregationist democrats. George Wallace and his racist recommendations reside within the Northeast. Expectantly, with the last election, newly elected Republicans can as soon as again desegregate the racist democrat Northeast states.

I think so, especially the Democratic Party it seems, in the days of Kennedy Democrats were a lot less big government and regulation, whereas now they seem more to the far left. Republicans have off shoots like the Tea Party, who are too far right as well.

I think the media has contributed to this, the instant melodramatic news shows, biased even and whether it's true or not it gets out to the public. Far left or right I don't like, they're both equally detrimental to getting issues resolved.

Yup, they became moderate Republicans and they have been since about the '90's. The Republicans today are so far to the right that they are about to move off a cliff. Dwight Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, and even Richard Nixon wouldn't even survive a GOP primary.

Democrats have become Communists. The Democrat Party absorbed the American Communist Party. This would have pleased Nikita Khrushchev who was a horrible Chef. With smelly feet and shoe banging the countertop at the United Nations who have never been United.

While the US government is still incredibly right-wing, people have noticed that the government is ever so slowly progressing and improving. The Liberals and moderates are embracing this change while the conservatives want to stick to their stone age values and are upset with this improvement.

JFK ... Democratic President wanted to reduce the taxes on the rich [and he did]. Because he knew that was the best way to increase government revenue. and it did.

JFK also said "ask not what your country can do for you" [meaning don't ask for handouts and welfare] .."ask what you can do for your country".

    Does this sound like Obama?
