Why do conservatives give more to charity than liberals?

-- Although liberal families' incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families, conservative-headed households give, on average, 30 percent more to charity than the average liberal-headed household ($1,600 per year vs. $1,227).

-- Conservatives also donate more time and give more blood.

-- Residents of the states that voted for John Kerry in 2004 gave smaller percentages of their incomes to charity than did residents of states that voted for George Bush.

-- Bush carried 24 of the 25 states where charitable giving was above average.

-- In the 10 reddest states, in which Bush got more than 60 percent majorities, the average percentage of personal income donated to charity was 3.5. Residents of the bluest states, which gave Bush less than 40 percent, donated just 1.9 percent.

-- People who reject the idea that "government has a responsibility to reduce income inequality" give an average of four times more than people who accept that proposition.

That includes their own churches. Paying for a bouncy castle at a church picnic is not charity.

Finally, despite all that money, why haven't churches and charities solved homelessness and hunger in america? The answer is that they can't do it without government and never in the history of the world have they been able to without government.

Your talking about the Brooks book, which has been widely discredited. I've also met Brooks personally and he's an asshole. I wouldn't trust anything that guy says.

Don't assume that just because someone is affiliated with a University that they're a liberal. The Political Science department at Syracuse University is divided between a cadre of staunch conservatives and another group that are left-leaning moderates.

greater mushy brains. possibly it particularly is because of the fact the conservatives stole the funds jointly as liberals had to artwork for it? possibly it particularly is to help them sleep at nighttime? possibly that's a write off? What charities do they provide to? My wager is it particularly is exceeded among the "good Christians" of the rustic. you comprehend, like the pastor who needs Obama to get techniques maximum cancers, die and burn in hell? specific, you're extremely the greater compassionate team. if it particularly is the case, why are you so against customary wellness care? Did you point out hypocrisy? you are the champs, palms down.

Because its super easy to claim church donations, and Libs don't tend to worry about writing off every donation to charity

The majority of charities supported by Republicans are churches, with the rest being tax-deductible donations.

Liberals I know, including myself, give a lot of our money to organizations who are not tax-deductible, and are therefore not in any kind of database to collect the information.

Giving to a for-profit church isn't "charitable giving".

And many liberals donate to charity, but don't claim it for the write-off on their taxes, like conservatives do.

    Liberals pay their taxes.

Conservatives refuse to pay their fare share.
