What's the difference between a tC and SRT4 motor?
Why can the srt4 hold so much more boost even though they are both 2.4L?

The Scion tC is not turbocharged. It is a naturally aspirated engine.
Only the SRT4 (both the Neon and Caliber versions) is factory turbocharged.

Thicker cylinder walls,
stronger crankshaft
forged rods,
forged pistons
Larger cylinder head bolts/studs

About the only thing these engines have in common is the number of cylinders. Completely different engines built by completely different manufactures.
I don't know for sure but I have dome opinions. Maybe the SRT4 has a stronger crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistions. It may also have a lower compression ratio allowing it to accept more boost.
