how many jobs you know give you both time and money to work out?

paid to go hiking and camping

they give you clothes and all kinds of out door gear

they give you time off to go to collage and pay for some or all for the classes

they want you to go off-roading

they feed 3 or more times a day

you get 30 days paid vacation

they send you to another country and pay you more to be there

    medical is free! dental too!

they give you a place to live and all they ask is you keep it clean

they teach you a job and other things you can use when you get out

you get to shoot guns of all types

ever drive a tank? it fun and the other vehicles jeep, cut-v, humm-v, gamma-goat,21/2ton, 5ton,880,

and all they really ask of you is that you stand-up if there is a need for combat even that had some fun

Well the purpose of the military is to kill people, however the negative connotation that follows that term doesn't fit.

I guess you could say freedom fighters if you want, but is this based off of overall effect or the soldiers opinion at the time?

Just from my own personal experience no one really gives a **** about the freedom of civies (most of whom never did anything for it) back home. I care about my own freedom, veterans' freedom, and friends and family's freedom, but your average American I couldn't give 2 shits about

Till 1945 USA soldiers were protecters of freedom.

After 1945 - they have been rapists, baby killers, war criminals. They burnt thousands of innocent Vietnamese alive with napalm.
