The Dutch seem to be some of the most reasonable people on the planet. And before the British took over New Amsterdam, the Dutch were able to wrangle an agreement from the British to respect religious differences. This was reiterated later in other agreements and finally ended up as our First Amendment.... "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
