Rock and Pop: Do you think a lot of people are too quick to condemn rap?
If they want proof that rap is music then they should look up a little rapper known as Kayne West.
I chose him because he's not only very talented, but also very well known.
From there, they could branch out to other rappers who experiment with music, and soon they'll find a network of rappers who create what people considered as "music".
And from there you can go to:
This is music is it not?
Pianos, guitars, violins etc.
And if you say "Rapping isn't music because they aren't singing!"
Wouldn't that also mean any hardcore punk wouldn't be considered music because they aren't singing, but instead screaming?
Well they're missing out on a lot of great music due to ignorance.
How is only his first CD good when he didn't really start experimenting until Late Registration?
And if The College Dropout is his only good record, then how come My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was higher rated than TCD and was the highest rated album of 2010? The only reason why people say TCD was his only good is album is because he didn't start receiving a lot of hate til after that came out, then it started becoming cool to dislike him and his music.
Then you obviously don't know anything about poetry.
You don't need to be "educated" to write poetry, it's about expressing yourself.
Poetry isn't about being grammatically and politically correct, it's about pouring all of your feelings and emotions into it. Correct grammar is not in any way, shape or form necessary. There's two different kinds of intelligence in the world. Educated intelligence, which is taught to you and you learn, and street/life intelligence, which you gain from the environment around you. Your environment is your natural school. People who use their life intelligence over educated intelligence are by far better writers, because what they're saying comes from a place more vital than your brain, it comes from your heart.

To be honest, I don't mind rap if they use correct grammar. That's what turns me off to it.
As a poet myself, I see most rappers as uneducated, illiterate poets. Which does not make for a very good poet.
I'm fine with, like, Linkin Park's rapper, or Eminem, but Lil' Wayne and Nicki Manaj suck. No offense to the people who like them, it just doesn't work for me.
I could get more into it if there was a melody along with the beat, instead of only beat, and more educated lyrics with metaphor and good rhymes that abide by the rules of English grammar. That would actually be really cool.Source(s): Grammar nazi.
