Abortion and homosexuality were illegal
Divorce was frowned upon
We had capital punishment
We had an EMPIRE that was racist and oppressive
There was no diversity or multiculturalism, everyone was white and Christian

Divorce was frowned upon
We had capital punishment
We had an EMPIRE that was racist and oppressive

It was acceptable for teachers, neighbours and police officers to strike misbehaving children
Doesn't sound like a country to be proud of to me. If I was around in the 1930's and 1940's I would not join the army to fight for the country I would would cheer its destruction.
