How do you define racism?

Is it by prejudice towards a persons ethnic origins, or is it towards a persons nationality? I actually believe that racism can be both, but today more towards a persons country of origin than their skin tone etc.

Does the US instill into people the feeling of belonging to a country that is superior to all others? That it is better, therefore all others are lesser? If pulled up on this trait, does it like to subdue any mention of this through censorship, and prove it does not in fact allow freedom of speech?
