Why do some Christians deny that catholicism is Christian when for centuries catholicism was Christianity?

Do Christians think there were born agains, pentecostals, jw's or anglicans running around in the 8th century or something?

Will someone please educate the poor souls about their own history, it's embarrassing?

Any claim by Catholicism to be the Christian Church at any time in its existence is laughable!

The definition of a "Christian" is one who acts like Christ, believes what Christ believed, and teaches what Christ taught.

Christ said the primary way "Christians" would be identified would be "love for each other" and they would even love their enemies (Jn.13:34,35; Mt.5:44; 1Jn.4:20). True Christians would not kill members of their own religion in war (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8; 2Cor.10:3-5).

But, Catholicism's historical record from its very inception is of bloodthirsty wars, immorality, sectarian violence and factional splits! (Mt.7:21-23; Gal.5:19-23). This is an imitation of Satan who characteristically promotes killing (Jn.8:44; 1Jn.3:8).

Peter De Rosa, who states that he is a "patriotic Catholic," says in his book Vicars of Christ-The Dark Side of the Papacy:

"The church was responsible for persecuting Jews, for the Inquisition, for slaughtering heretics by the thousand, for reintroducing torture into Europe as part of the judicial process. . . . Popes appointed and sacked even emperors, demanded that they impose Christianity on their subjects under the threat of torture and death. . . . The cost to the Gospel message was horrendous." The only "crime" of some who were murdered was that they possessed a Bible.

Regarding Pope Innocent III of the early 13th century, De Rosa states: "It has been reckoned that in the last and most savage persecution under Emperor Diocletian about two thousand Christians perished, worldwide. In the first vicious incident of Pope Innocent's Crusade ten times that number were slaughtered. . . . It comes as a shock to discover that, at a stroke, a pope killed far more Christians than Diocletian. . . . [Innocent] had no qualms about using Christ's name to do everything Christ objected to."

De Rosa notes that "in the pope's name, [the inquisitors] were responsible for the most savage and sustained onslaught on human decency in the history of the race." Of Dominican inquisitor Torquemada in Spain, he says: "he ruled tyrannically for fifteen years. His victims numbered over 114,000 of whom 10,220 were burned."

De Rosa concludes: "The record of the Inquisition would be embarrassing for any organization; for the Catholic church, it is devastating. . . . What history shows is that, for more than six centuries without a break, the papacy was the sworn enemy of elementary justice. Of eighty popes in a line from the thirteenth century on, not one of them disapproved of the theology and apparatus of Inquisition. On the contrary, one after another added his own cruel touches to the workings of this deadly machine. The mystery is: how could popes continue in this practical heresy for generation after generation? How could they deny at every point the Gospel of Jesus?" He answers: "Pontiffs preferred to contradict the Gospel than an 'inerrant' predecessor, for that would bring down the papacy itself."

Truly, the term "Catholic Christian" causes any thinking Christian to cringe and gives true Christianity a bad name.

Despite their claims, even Catholics cannot identify the true "church" from Christ's time to the present. By their own record they have added, taken away, and adjusted dates on their own list of popes. All throughout history their foundation has been legend, fable and fraud.

The latest list of 1947 admitted that two popes on previous lists were found to be actually nonexistent and four were really antipopes. Information was changed on 74 popes. Three new names were placed as legitimate Popes and dates were re-adjusted in a desperate attempt to maintain a clean succession.

Remember that the main argument for Catholicism being the true Christian church is that they have an unbroken line back to Peter and the first century church. But, the facts tell us that any unbroken line is pure fantasy. There were many gaps where Peter's chair was empty, where a true infallible guide could not be identified. And the testimony of "infallible" popes and councils shows the Catholic church did fall into doctrinal error–even one "infallible" pope excommunicating another "infallible" pope for heresy!

It is ludicrous to believe that Catholicism or Protestantism could represent the True Christian congregation today.

When you examine them you find that they cannot meet even the primary evidence of true Christianity. In both world wars and current conflicts people of the same religions met on battlefields and slaughtered one another. Each side claimed that God was on their side. Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics and Protestants kill Protestants, something true Christians would not do (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8).

When you look at the Scriptural evidence you will find that ONLY Jehovah's Witnesses, as an organization, meet the requirements of being the True Christians today (Mt 7:16-20).

The "works" that the church has done throughout that entire time span reflects a deviation from the teachings of the bible.

Do the Dark Ages sound like an enlightened period of religious tolerance for Christianity? Anyone who has studied the teachings of Jesus as relayed in the scriptures would instantly know for a certaity that He would never have approved of many of the churches actions or teachings.

Catholicism may still be qualified as a "Christian" religion but it is definately not following the bible. It's BASED on the bible just like a movie is based on a book.

youthsea----bypass see the action picture MARTIN LUTHER. it quite is the most proper in explaining at the same time as the first Christians broke off from the Roman Catholic Church. The Lutherans were the first recorded Protestant Christians to interrupt off. Barnabas and Saul may be seen early Catholic Church leaders to boot because the Disciples. those early Catholic Christians are responsible for recording the Gospels and the Catholic Church picked different Gospels and they chosen what may bypass into the Bible. on the time this replaced into the absolutely Church, at the same time as they were recording there replaced into no prefer to be different about the source---Rome replaced into commonplace because the absolutely Christian Church. in spite of the particular reality they'd a Bible (textual content), the Church did not enable laypeople or hassle-free human beings to ascertain the Bible. it quite is at the same time as Martin Luther got here alongside and translated a version and gave it to the human beings---and to that end the starting up of assorted Protestant church homes branched off because for the first time they'd the Bible and they could come to a decision on their lonesome interpretation of the Bible.

You can not shine a light on those blinded by darkness.

What their problem is can be summed up in the obvious; they hate the Roman Catholic Church, or at least, what they think it is.

They blame the Catholic Church for the Crusades, neglecting 400+ previous years of blood at the hands of Islamic aggression before it.

They blame the Catholic Church for the Spanish Inquisition, which was actually promulgated by the Spanish Monarchy.

Not only that, they overlook the Salem Witch trials because they can't blame that on the Roman Catholic Church.

So, until they seek the light, they shall stumble in darkness, and all we can do is offer a loving hand to help guide them back.

You are the one who needs to be educated as do so many others.

NO person or institution is Christian MERELY because it SAYS so.

A Christian is Christlike and follows Christ reflecting His image to others.

We are not perfect and are conscious of this but we are striving for moral excellence through faith in Christ as we repent of, resist and overcome sin.

The question proves once again the unfortunate fact that most people do not know who or what a Christian is.

Most Christians know little to nothing about the history of Christianity. It's kind of sad, really.

Lately many Protestant churches, sects and cults are becoming more and more fanatic, they attack and try to destroy anything that doesn't agree with their perspective of the Bible.

They deny evolution, because they want to believe literally in an allegoric book that tells a story easy to understand for people in the Bronze Age where the concept of evolution was beyond their understanding, they are incapable of understanding that God created he human soul despite what happens with our bodies after millions of years.

Some even deny heliocentric reality and say that the sun rotates around the earth because a biblical passage in the Book of Joshua...They are so close minded hat can't understand that this book is written in terms easy to understand by people who could hardly read and had no scientific knowledge.

Now, they hate Catholicism, for various reasons:

1.- They were part of Catholic history, it's easier to blame others for the mistakes of a Church instead of accepting the were part of this mistakes

2.- Despite the millions they invest in networks and TV programs around the world, the Catholic Church grows and remains united, while they have less members each day and are more and more divided (Now there are 44,000 Protestant Churches, cults and sects).

3.- They are too narrow minded to accept that we don't adore the Virgin and Saints, but we ask them to pray for us, just as they ask their pastors to pray for them.

4.- They blame us for believing that faith only saves us if we do good works despite the Bible says:

    James 2:

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

5.- They accuse us of changing the Bible, when as a fact is the opposite, the original Bible has 46 Books and the protestants in the Sixteen Century deleted 7 books that they didn't liked.

6.- They accuse us for believing in Purgatory because they say it isn't in the Bible...Maybe it isn't in their Bible, because one of the books they deleted was Maccabees 2 and the doctrine of Purgatory and prayers for the dead is in 2 Maccabees 39-46.

7.- They can't accept that Jesus created the Papacy in

    Matthew 16

17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter,c and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hadesd will not overcome it.e 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will beg loosed in heaven.”

Exactly the attributions of the Pope

And you will find many more incoherence in those who hate Catholicism.

But the main problem is ignorance, they believe what they are told to believe.

    Regardless, the 30,000 denominations believe...

Justification= Righteousness We appear righteous once we are justified. Then sanctification and good works should follow to demonstrate our true saving faith.

Justification + Sanctification = Righteousness. That is false teaching that the Roman Catholics hold.

How do you know how much goods works and sanctification cleansing you have done to appear Righteous? Thats why Roman Catholicism is a false cult.

Because in modern-day vernacular, Christian refers to Protestant Christianity, while Catholic refers to the various forms of Catholicism.

Its not that they're uneducated, its just that this is how things are referred to today.
