Well this is actually quite a trivial question. Solar power can be a good thing depending on where you live. For example, if you live in the artic or in a place that does not recieve a fair amount of daily sunshine, it would not be a bright idea to place alot of Photovoltaic cells, they would be inefficient and possibly harmful towards the environment. however, living in a place with constant sunshine such as a place near the equator, it would be a bad thing to not use solar cells, especially if you use fossil fuels for energy instead. Solar cells are not the only solution, there is also biomass, hydroelectric, wind, geothermal, etc. The effieciency depends entirely on where you live. So, in short, it can be a bad thing to not have solar cells, but its all depends on where you live.
