Which liberal countries promote diversity, women's & gays' rights, civil liberties & free speech?

Comments on countries which value multi-lingual & multi religious diversity, are inclusive on immigration policies, do not support the death penalty and are wealthy or emerging as wealthy are appreciated.

It's hard to find a country that fits all of the descriptions you gave, but the Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland) are often considered some of the most liberal countries. They're generally quite progressive, with good women's rights, gay rights and a healthy attitude towards censorship/free speech. I'm not entirely sure what their policies about immigration are like, though, but I imagine they're fairly lenient too.

Making generalisations about one country's political/societal situation isn't wholly safe, though. For example, one would think that the US is a forward-thinking, progressive, free nation, and yet they have a long way to go in terms of some civil liberties. It also depends on whereabouts you are in the country. New England states tend to be more liberal than the "Bible Belt" states.
