What you have to do, is add all the numbers up. 8+7+7+5+3+2+2= 34 Now how many numbers did you add up? 7 numbers. So you take the sum 34 and divide that by 7 which equal 4.86 (which I rounded because it was a long number).

Another example would be :

10, 20, 30

10+20+30=60

I added up 3 numbers together, so I will divide 60 by 3.

60 divided by 3 equals 20

To find an average you add all of your values together, then divide the sum by the number of values:

(8 + 7 + 7 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 2)/7 = 4.857

So the answer is approximately 5 or D

All you do is add up all the numbers you want to average (8, 7, 7, 5, 3, 2, and 2), and then divide by the number of items you added (7).

8+7+7+5+3+2+2=34

34/7 = 4.85
