I don't know how to do this :(

please explain!

An 8kg mass rests on the floor. A rope is attached to this mass and an upward tension of 50N is applied. What is the normal force applied by the floor?

The normal force, tension, and gravitational force are the external forces acting on the mass.The normal force is in the direction of the upward tension. Gravity pulls down on the mass. Since the mass is at rest, by Newton's second law, n + T - mg = 0, where n is the normal force, T is the tension, m is the mass, and g is the acceleration due to gravity. Solving for n, we get n = mg - T = (8kg)(9.8 m/s²) - (50N) = 28.4 N
