f Republicans are all about the Bible and stuff then why don't they want cheating on a marriage to be illegal?

Many Reps are not religious, and most believe in the separation of church and state.
Same with the Dems.

It used to be although I don't know that the law was enforced. Also acts between gay men were illegal and considered sodomy in some states until the 70's. It used to be illegal to marry someone of a different race in some states until the late 60's. I don't believe these laws were necessarily Republican laws. The religious division among the parties started after abortion became legal. It had a profound effect on politics.

Because they view that as a social problem, not a legal problem.
Cheating in a marriage is also a religious problem, and giving the government power through religion is essentially a step towards a theocracy.
Cheating should not be illegal not because it's moral, but because it puts the government outside of it's realm of power.

Where your question loses it is in the beginning -- Republicans are not all about the Bible and stuff. BIBLE THUMPERS are all about the Bible and stuff.
And the murder rate in Ireland has dropped significantly since they legalized divorce.
