Do actors get paid when filming or when the show airs .?

So if a new show was in development (filming) , do the actors get paid during this ? Or do they have to wait for the show to air to get paid ?

It depends entirely on what contract their agent has negotiated for them. Few actors could afford to work for more than a few weeks without being paid, so the deal is often that they get paid a certain fee monthly (or weekly) and then a percentage of the profits when the film/TV show comes out.

Major stars get only a huge set sum agreed in advance, or nothing at all upfront and a percentage at the end.

New actors often work on a profit-share basis - they work for free, even putting their own money into the production - and then each person involved takes an equal percentage of the profits when it's all finished.

I guess it depends. You'd either get paid when you're done filming, or while filming.
