where are marching bass drums supposed to listen in to?

snares listen to middle snare, tenors to middle or lead tenor. do basses listen to the 5th?

    Having 6 Years experience playing the bass drum in High school and college, I can say that You have to listen to all 5 basses, Thats why bass drum is so difficult to master/ Sound correct as a whole, when it come to listening in. Because all 5 bass drummers have to be tuned in and listening to eachother. If they arent and one slips up it could possibly cause a domino effect if your not paying attention to your own playing also.

    I know girls that are on our marching band drumline, but not on bass drum. I almost tried out for it. Just don't let the guys discourage you!
