Is it possible that the gasket blew under the module?

I have a 98 automatic ford ranger. I slammed it into reverse the other day while I was In a hurry and now reverse is completely gone. My friend that works at ford said the gasket under the module could have blown. I tool the oil pan off and I can't see anywhere where it's blown on the sides. Could it be under the module that it blew? If it isn't the gasket what else could it be?

Where you moving forward at any kind of pace when you jammed it? if so you broke some teeth of of the reverse gear wheel in the tranny. lucky you didn't blowout your drive gear in the tranny and trash the whole thing. So your going to have to remove tranny, take apart and replace reverse gear wheel :(
