How are you defining "equivalence" of polygons? My concern is that this question is based on circular reasoning----doesn't "equivalence" imply that an "equivalence relation" has already been imposed and agreed upon?

The statement "A is A" is a tautology.

If you have a specific set of criteria---e.g. having n vertices and n sides which are non-intersecting and making specified angles----you could "prove" that polygon A is equivalent to itself by simply listing each of these characteristics.
